Blaž was an average boy, but he knew how to warm the hearts of many people with the warmth of his sincere smile, like the sun ray of the most beautiful spring day.
He loved people, nature and life... He was full of life force, joy and plans for the future. He always believed that everything in life would somehow work out for him.
He was born on September 8, 1977, in Koper, as the middle child of a five-member family; he had an older sister and a younger brother.
Throughout his life, he was always accompanied by luck in misfortune. He liked to skip through life and never had any obstacles. As a child, he experienced several accidents, but everything always turned out well... Until the time came for military service.
This was one of his greatest wishes. That's why he couldn't believe it when, because of blood tests, they told him he was unfit for military service. He could not accept the fact that he would not serve in the army. So he took the test again, which proved to be adequate and was thrilled that he was accepted into the army. On November 22, 1996, he proudly took his oath at the barracks Franc Rozman Stane in Ljubljana.
Months passed and the time for the end of military service was approaching. Even on Sunday, May 25, 1997, we celebrated together on his father's and sister's birthdays, and late in the afternoon Blaž slowly left the party, saying he had to prepare for the return to the barracks in Ljubljana and that we would definitely see each other again soon. The Friday and Saturday before that he was at various parties and met many of his friends. He gave some only a few kind words, but no one at the time suspected that this was actually the last meeting with him.
On Tuesday, May 27, only at 9 am was we surprised by a call from the barracks. The first information was very brief: Blaž allegedly committed suicide shortly after midnight according to unofficial information.
Suicide???
How suicide?
But we were together happy and smiling just two days ago... How could he then commit suicide?!
Just four days before the end of military service?!
When we learned that journalists had also arrived at the scene of the accident, we also sought help from them to find the truth... What actually happened that night in the barracks in Ljubljana or where this tragedy occurred?
So began a two-year struggle with the support of the media (POP TV, Mladina, Slovenske novice, Primorske novice, Hopla, Dnevnik, Delo and others), but to this day it has remained without its proper epilogue.
None of those to whom we persistently asked questions reacted. They all just sympathized with us and remained silent or concealed the truth. During this time there were also some witnesses, but they were frightened again each time when the matter had come so far that it would have been necessary to testify in court. Therefore, there was never any legal proceedings, since the truth has always been of paramount importance, but without evidence it is difficult to present.
So after 15 years, a BOOK was created that helps pave the way to final truth and achieved justice in court.
